A lawyer with over a decade of experience witnessed the cracks in the system firsthand. She watched survivors fall through the gaps, advocates struggle without resources, and perpetrators manipulate procedures. So she built The Purple Arrow — to ensure no survivor ever faces that journey alone again.
Across Australia, survivors of domestic violence face a critical challenge: they know they need help, but support services are fragmented. Counsellors connect survivors to hotlines. Hotlines refer to legal services. Lawyers point back to counsellors. No one is coordinating the full picture.
Support coordinators and advocates were watching survivors fall through the cracks. They had the compassion and dedication, but lacked the legal expertise to navigate complex situations with confidence. Meanwhile, survivors felt lost, unsupported, and unsure of their rights and options.
That's why The Purple Arrow exists. Our founder—a lawyer with over a decade of experience supporting vulnerable clients through some of their darkest moments—saw this gap and knew she had to do something. By combining legal expertise with genuine compassion, we bridge the divide. We coordinate. We advocate. We ensure every survivor has someone in their corner who understands both the law and the heart of their journey.
These principles guide every decision we make and every survivor we support
Your needs, voice, and timeline come first. We listen without judgment, centre your agency, and ensure every service is tailored around what matters most to your recovery and independence.
Your privacy is sacred. We maintain absolute confidentiality and create safe spaces where you can share your truth without fear of judgment or exposure.
We understand your rights and the legal landscape inside and out. Our guidance is grounded in law, Queensland practice, and years of experience—never assumptions.
Healing isn't just about outcomes. It's about feeling seen, believed, and valued. We bring warmth, genuine care, and the understanding that you've already shown remarkable strength.
We believe in your agency and resilience. Our goal is to equip you with knowledge, options, and confidence so you can move forward on your terms, with full understanding of your rights.
Support shouldn't require jumping through hoops. We're available 24/7, free or low-cost, and accessible however you need us—because barriers to help shouldn't exist.
It started with a very close friend. She was a mother of five—smart, vibrant, full of life. When she finally revealed what was happening behind closed doors, our founder was heartbroken. In one terrifying moment, with nothing but a bag for each herself and her five children, she fled a home that wasn't safe. She was escaping over 20 years of violence and control.
When she reached out for help, the cracks in the system became glaringly obvious. Shelters were overcrowded. Legal assistance was hard to access. Understanding her rights felt impossible in the chaos of survival. Meanwhile, the perpetrator manipulated the system to his advantage—delaying proceedings, ignoring court orders, always one step ahead.
Our founder watched advocates and support workers doing their best with so little. They cared deeply, but they didn't always have the knowledge, tools, or resources they needed. That's when she realised: this wasn't just her friend's story. It was the story of countless survivors. And the people trying to help them were struggling too, not because they didn't care, but because they didn't have the right tools.
She decided to study law—not for courtrooms, but to understand the system inside and out. Every rule. Every loophole. Every mechanism that could protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable. Out of that determination, The Purple Arrow was born. A lawyer's mission to ensure no survivor ever faces that journey alone again.
